When I landed in Vancouver July 2021, I embarked on an inspiring journey that would redefine my perception of art, community, and self-growth. Little did I know that the following years would empower and strengthen my self-growth and artistic communication, continuing to shaping my worldview.

Being surrounded by like-minded peers, each driven by their devotion for art, gathered us together and learn from each other. I remember one of my remarkable Korean volunteering partner during the shifts: we exchanged perspectives on art and life, and she taught me Korean culture and art history. The memories, laughter, discussion, and mutual support among us fostered a sense of belonging and cross-cultural communication. I soon started to notice that volunteering was not merely an act of service; it was a meaningful way to build and form relationships.

My connection with the adults and faculty members of the gallery was equally enriching. Their wisdom and expertise in the field of art provided me with knowledge and insight into future pathways. Every conversation with them was a learning opportunity, broadening my perspectives. The trustworthy adults I met and interacted with played a pivotal role in my journey, providing guidance and shaping my understanding of art in many ways.

The most remarkable aspect of my volunteering experience was guiding visitors through the exhibitions. I had the privilege of being part of more than ten diverse exhibits, each one a distinct universe of artistic expression. Introducing every single piece of artwork to visitors was like narrating a unique story, a deep dive into the artist's soul.

As I reflect on my years at the Vancouver Art Gallery, I see a journey characterized by personal growth and artistic discovery. My journey at the Vancouver Art Gallery is far from over. As I continue to volunteer, I find myself eagerly anticipating the artistic conversations, encounters, and experiences that await me. It's a journey not defined by its destination, but by the beautiful process of growth, learning, and communication that it entails.
